Hello,

I have a problem. I am working on a model for topology optimization. I used volume tetra option to mesh the solid component. i gave in the element size and also min. element size. However, the element size gets bigger towards the core or centre of the component. Only the surface of the component has the predefined element size. Could someone please tell me what should i do different to avoid this problem? thank you

    Hi Samraj,

Try Tetramesh Parameters sub-panel. In this panel, you can control the size of elements by defining max and min size of elements. Also, you can try other options available in this panel.

    Thank you

    Hello again,

So basically, i set the parameters under 'tetramesh parameters' and use 'tetramesh' option to mesh it?

    Hello,

I tried that method. The error was ' the mesh is not enclosed' popped up. I have cleaned the geometry using 'Auto cleanup' option and i suspect it works now. Little off topic. How do i calculate mass of a component after topology optimization was done? This thread explains it Mass calculation after Topology Optimization . After .oss.fem file was generated, i opened it on Hypermesh and used Tools ==> Mass option but it sill wont show any mass value. I tried using different user profiles but no help. Any idea?

    thanks

Sorry i was on leave, so i couldn't reply.

You need to define density for the material for the mass calculation.

    Thank you
