Read .h3d files with Python

Is it possible to access the contents of a .h3d file with Python? Or, do you plan to add support for that in the near future?

I've seen this question asked in the past, and the response involves using Compose, but with the recent Python APIs being developed by Altair I wonder if it's in your plans to include .h3d support. It is a really compact result format, and it would enable many customers to automate their processes.

    hello @adrian_aquino ,

this is something we are exploring from the development side, but it is still a long term discussion. That said, we are collecting customers feedback on this topic so I'll report to our development team.

    Regards,

Thank you, @Michael Herve. This would certainly be helpful for me, and most likely to many people in my organization. Also, even though this request is probably not the most popular, my guess is there is a good number of people out there that currently use another way to build their processes programmatically with existing Python libraries, such as pyNastran. Having the possibility to use a more compact file format like .h3d would be an advantage. Finally, other solvers from the big companies are moving in the same direction, with Ansys and pyAnsys being a notable example.
