Database Record Count

Hello All:

Is there a way to define a Variable in Monarch equal to the total number of Records in the source Database, which input via an ODBC link?  Of course, I can create a Summary using the "Count" function and save the same to an Export.xls file.  Just wondering if there is an easier way to accomplish the same with less overhead. Also note that I am using the .COM automation to effect opening Monarch and Exporting the complete Table (all database records) to a .csv file.
