HELP Unable to open default road files?
I recently upgraded to MotionView 2023.1 and have updated my vehicle model from previous 2022.2v. I have been able to successfully run events with roads I have created using the road course drive event.
The issue I am having is this: When trying to run an event with a default road such as constant radius or lane change the simulation fails and gives me this error: USRMES:USER [1]
WARNING: Unable to open ../../../../../../../../Program Files/Altair/2023.1/hwdesktop/hw/mdl/composites/mauto/definition_models/LaneGraphics/defaultEventRoadGraphics/80x20_grid.rdf using teimOrbit reader
The grid file changes depending on what event I am running but it doesn't seem to like any of the default grids.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Sam,
I think the file path may be too long as the install directory doesn't look to be in the usual "C:\Program Files". Can you try to copy the road file to your desktop and use that input file instead?
Hope this helps!

Thanks Adam, That worked but now there are no graphics, how do I generate the graphics of the path and cones for these events?

Hi Sam,
A road file can be visualized using the Road Tools Utility:
The cones and path are only visible if you use the Flat Road option in the Entity Editor:
It is recommended that you size your event with the Road Selection set to Flat Event, and then switch to the Road File after the dimensions of the event are correct.
Hope this helps!

Hi Adam, I would like to revive this thread as I am still having this issue. I have now switched to a new laptop and installed Altair. I made sure to set the install directory to the shortest file path possible to try and avoid this issue but it seems to still be a problem. I am really trying to generate a video graphic with the path and cones shown during the event and the previous solution does not allow for that. Is there any other ways to fix this issue?

Hi Sam,
What seems to be your current issue, are you still receiving the same error message?
From original post:
USRMES:USER [1]
WARNING: Unable to open ../../../../../../../../Program Files/Altair/2023.1/hwdesktop/hw/mdl/composites/mauto/definition_models/LaneGraphics/defaultEventRoadGraphics/80x20_grid.rdf using teimOrbit readerThe Flat Road setting will provide you with the default cones and centerline. It only disappears if you are using a custom road file.
Hope this helps!

Yes, I am getting that error when running any event with the default "flat road" selected. The event runs successfully when using a custom road but doesn't show the graphics I need.
