Nonlinear 2d structural analysis with component inside component failing

Hello,

I want to do a structural analysis with rotation (RFORCE).

My model is periodic with 60°, so I used SPC at the edge nodes with dof2 = 0.0 and a cylindric system.
(There is an hyperworks example for this, but I didnt find the tasks from the tutorial in the fem file)

What I added to the model:

  • nonlinear material curve
  • two materials / properties
  • cylindrical system
  • NLPARAM
  • SPC for periodicity
  • contact (with/without)

It is working without the red component, but with it the solver is failing.
Also I added contacts (slide & stick) between both components, but then other errors occure.

Do you have any ideas how to do it correctly? Mabye mesh the air inside the blue component?
Thanks a lot!

    Hello,

the issue with the model is that the contact search doesn't find a contact based on the "Elementset" definition. The search algorithm works better if you use nodesets instead of elementsets in the contact. With this update + the option adjust = NO in the contact, your model will converge.
