How can I build custom suspension system?

Hello,

Can I build a custom suspension system in MotionView? I have used some of the widely used suspension types (e.g. SLA, MacPherson) but I am wondering if I can build a template on my own, like in Adams. I couldn't find how I can do it here.

Kind regards,

Alessandro

    Hi Alessandro,

There are several different ways to build your own suspension system. The easiest path is to first use the Assembly Wizard (via the Vehicle Tools Extension) to construct a suspension system that closely resembles your ideal system, then modify it as needed. New automotive entities can be added as well through the Entity Browser, such as springs, dampers, bump stops, end stops, bushings, etc. By using the Assembly Wizard, Attachments will already be defined in the model so you can stitch it into an existing assembly and complete vehicle level simulations quickly.

For more on the Vehicle Tools Extension, you can take the MotionSolve v2023 for Vehicle Modeling eLearning (https://learn.altair.com/enrol/index.php?id=497).

As well, you can also take the MotionView/MotionSolve Introduction v2023 eLearning (https://learn.altair.com/enrol/index.php?id=496) to learn more about general modeling skills.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Alessandro,

Just following up to see if you were successful in creating your own custom suspension. If you feel that the suggestion above was acceptable, please mark the post as Correct so others can quickly find the same solution as well. If you managed to complete the eLearning and still have questions, please let me know and we can set up a Q&A session.

    Thanks,
