How to generate Ellipsoid particle in EDEM?

Dear All,

I wonder how can we generate an ellipsoid particle in EDEM. I know that it is possible to CAD an ellipsoid and fill it with spheres, I wonder if there is a direct way that we can generate an ellipsoid and import it to EDEM?

    Hello Mahmoud,

    If you don't require to use a specific physics model that is limited to multi-spheres only, you could try creating your particle as a polyhedral and importing your ellipsoid CAD shape, you need to make sure that the shape of the particle is totally convex (which should be for an ellipsoid) but it is worth double checking if you get issues, that if you do any prior meshing yourself, no mesh elements are creating a concave section.
