combining load cases

I am doing a nonlinear direct transient analysis.

1. i have done a bolt preload analysis .

2. The Bolt preload case is called in to the nonlinear direct transient analysis.

In the bolt preload step suppose if bolt is compressed by 1 mm, it shou;ld be compressed by 1 mm at the beginning of loadcase 2 , Yes it is happening.But gradually as the load case progresses, the bolt is comimng to its initial length , which means , the preload is getting nullified in the second load case .

My problem is , Once the bolt is pretensioned , it should remain pretensioned in the second load case also.

Please help me in this regard ...

are you using STATSUB(PRETENS) and CNTNLSUB in your second loadcase?

Thanks for responding ..

I am not using CNNLSUBAs it will not work for different solution types.My first subcase is PRETENSION which is a nonlinear case, and the second is Non linear Direct Transient.

I am using STATSUB(PRETENS) . But it is also not working as expected .

what if you create a NLDTRAN as pretension loadcase? I believe this would be possible.
