Hello,

I tried following this video to finish the one-way coupled simulation.
The results do not match, I have tried to setup the simulation multiple times but I get the same result.
The particles instead of being carried away from the force field just fall down by the influence of gravity.

I have attached an animation of my output, please help me understand where I might be going wrong.

Regards,

Kiran

    Hi,

This is a known bug, I'm afraid. For EDEM releases after 2022.3 if you are using some older versions of the PBF API, you will see this behaviour.

If you update the API to use the latest version (the tutorial is written using 3.1 and we're now up to 3.6) you will see the correct behaviour.

    Cheers,

    Richard

    Hi Kiran,

From the Animation it is difficult to understand the reason but as you said lighter particles are moving downwards.

I would suggest to try the below options

    1) Try to reduce the particle density lower than current values by at least 50% and try

    2) Below is the example case where EDEM+Accusolve solved similar to your application. Please go through it and change properties same as in the example case and observe the results, if still see the same behaviour then i feel the reason could be the length of the pipe where particle injection is at a very  short distance, hence you have to increase the velocity very large or increase the pipe length longer.

I followed this video, it was real helpful!

However, I have a question: Can we use the same compiled '.dll' files for custom cases without compiling it again?

    1. I ran the simulation, by importing the force field for the one way coupled simulation.
I was trying to posyt process the result, it seems like the force field is not displayed in the desired orientation, I'd like to know if this is how EDEM considered the force field or did I not setup the simulation properly? Please tellme if there's a way to post process the results properly.

    2. I understand that the quantity in the file 'field_query_prefs' is the density and viscosity of the fluid medium.
What viscosity are we talking about? Dynamic viscosity or Kinematic vicosity?

    Thanks,
    Kiran
