How to initialize a transient simulation?

Hello,

I am running detailed transient analyses of induction machines simulating several periods with a large number of steps/period. The simulations are very demanding for my PC (32 GB RAM, i7 CPU) and I don't have access to a workstation.

Is it possible to initialize a transient simulation from another transient simulation? what I would like to do is to divide my long transient simulations into several simulations, initializing each of those starting from the previous one. I found some general information in the user guide, but I couldn't find a step-by-step example. I am already using the initialization from a steady-state simulation (with .FTS file) to reduce the computational burden, but it's not enough.

Thank you very much in advance for your support!

Marco

    Hello Marco,

Take a look at 2D examples < Technical tutorials :

    • Synchronous Motor < Single Phase short circuit, Three phase short circuit
    • Induction Motor with overlay < Simulation at rated speed

Also, Please take a look at the description of "Initialized by FE solution" in the below link :

    file:///C:/Program%20Files/Altair/2022.1/flux/Flux/Help/english/UserGuide/English/topics/InitialisationParSolutionEFFonctionnement.htm

    Thank you,

    Lavanya

    Dear Lavanya,

thank you for your reply. I found what I was looking for in the technical tutorial of the synchronous motor.

    Regards,

    Marco
