Importing a geometry in EDEM and using mesh

I would like to mesh the geometry (determining and knowing the mesh size) before introducing the geometry into the EDEM. And make sure that the mesh remains unchanged after introduction into the EDEM.
How should this be accomplished, please?

Thank you for your patience.

    Hi Alice,

This is possible and follow the below instructions

    1) Mesh the geometry using Hyper mesh (Altair product) or any equivalent meshing software.

    2) Export the mesh as stl, i.e only elements which will be in contact with particles. You need to export 2D mesh no need of solid mesh.

    3) Import .stl file with default option(Shown in below picture) except the units i.e you should select suitable units of the .stl file

    4) Mesh file imported is as per your requirement.

Can I use SpaceClaim to mesh the geometry?

Besides, can I see the meshes in the EDEM page? The meshes appeared in EDEM are different from the meshes in SpaceClaim

    Hi Alice,

I am not the check the stl file before commenting on the reason for not importing the mesh as is in the space claim.

Please share the stl file, if it is not a confidential file. Also, please let me know your availability for a short call to discuss this.

thank you for your help and answer.

When I use spaceclaim to export the geometry file as a Fluent mesh file (msh), the delineated mesh is pretty much preserved.
