Extruding a line into a surface using two reference points/nodes

Running into an issue when trying to extrude a line into a surface. I'm trying to extrude the line using Node 1 and Node 2 as refence points for both the directional data, and for the length of the extrusion, similar to what could be accomplished in the classic hypermesh GUI

1) Select the line

2) Reposition Vector tool

3) Realign vector tool from Node1-to-Node2

After hitting ENTER or the middle mouse button the vector tool just stays there, and I'm never able to proceed with the extrusion

    Hello,

You have only defined the vector at this point

Hit esc to exit the vector tool

But I would just use points and snap (use geometry to create geometry)

    Thanks Jason!

I'm not use to the Escape key being used to progress in a work flow, only to back out and stop an action. A major limitation I foresee with to the snap method is one of the the two snap points have to live on the line waiting to be extruded. The user wont be able to use two general/generic reference locations.

I'm also still running into the issue, that even with the direction vector defined, and a known extrusion distance selected, the software wont allow the extrusions to execute.

The last thing I'll add, which is relatively minor, but as a user more familiar with the older Hypermesh GUI. The measure tool now longer returns the user to the last place they were in their workflow. The user must repeat the entire process with the distance value saved in memory.

try hitting enter once you input the distance value

Not sure if it’s a bug, but when the distance box first appears, it’s already prefilled with the last actions data, and for whatever reason, there is no way to use that value. I had to type a different number in first to reset the tool, then retype the distance (which was first auto populated in the box)
