    Hi,

It refers to the element length  which software tries to maintain for element sand hence the unit is of length which can be mm, m, inches etc.

    Hi

Whenever you mesh you convert your infinite body into finite number of elements, so its always upto the end users to decide what number of elements they need to handle. Depending upon the number of elements you need to decide your element size. The unit for element size in Hypermesh is decided by the users, if you are using tonne-N-mm-Sec system then the element size will be in mm.

    Thanks

    Hi Jahnavi

As far as i know only geometry can be scaled in Hypermesh. So how did you scaled HM or Fem file?

    Thanks

You can scale both Geometrical and FE enity. PFA screenshot of scale panel.

    Hi Rahul Sir

This is ok! But can it be scaled during importing fem or HM?

    Thanks

While importing  we can scale CAD but not FE.

    Hi,

I did scaling as rahul sir said then i changed all the properties to m .May then 5 inches of element reduced to equivalent metres

After scaling, you can check the dimension to verify.

While importing  we can scale CAD but not FE.

In fact, you can do 'scaling' with FE too, the same method as CAD.

in some companies they will ask we want average element size to to maintain the average element size ?

( ex: avg element size is 3 , but once i finish meshing the avr elelment size of elements 3 is lesser y )
