I am currently working on simulating an aluminum bar with following dimensions: radius=5.642mm and length=200mm (see attachment 1). The simulation is conducted in Flux 3d, using magneto harmonic application, with a low voltage 2v ,50Hz (see attachment 2).

However, l am facing an issue with the inductance calculation regardless the method used the (energy, or impedance..),the calculated the inductance value consistently remains at 0.12uh, which is lower than the expected exact value is 0.14uh, despite mes efforts, I have been unable to optimize the simulation further.

I am reaching out to the Altair community in the hope that someone with expertise in electromagnetic simulation can provide assistance or validation of for this model.

Hi all,

I am busy working on some beam-bending calculations in ESAComp. Compared to my hand calculations, the EI_y value from ESAComp was different. On further investigations, it seems ESAComp is doing E^f_x * Iy while I am doing E^f_y * Iy.

My understanding was that the flexural terms the 2.5D analaysis generates are felxure about their sub-script axis, therefore I have been using E^f_y as for a beam with a cross-section in z-y and lenght along x, this is the flexure term I need when applying a load at the end of the beam along z.

I know the likelihood of ESAComp being wrong about this calculation is low, but if that isn't the case, could someone please explain why using the E^f_x term is correct when the beam would not be bending about the x-axis?

Best,

Hello,

There may be a bug in how the currents are stored (or ordered) in the .out files. Using the Surface Current and Charges dataset object within the LUA environment, we wrote the results into a text file (please see the script below for details). We tested this with purely dielectric (epsilon_r = 2.56) and purely metallic sphere models (radius = 0.5m). Here, the spheres are illuminated by a plane wave and solved at 380MHz. As you can see from the figure below (FEKO plots on the left and the MATLAB via textfile export on the right) the current magnitudes are slightly off from FEKO, but the current distributions are correct.

We repeated this with a coated sphere model (radius = 0.5m), where the interior is a metal sphere (radius = 0.25m) enveloped by a dielectric sphere (epsilon_r = 2.56). Here, it is illuminated by a plane wave solved at 250MHz. Unlike the other cases, we noticed that even though the electric currents along the interior sphere are identical to FEKO, the electric and magnetic currents on the dielectric region are completely wrong. As shown in the figure below, the electric currents along the metallic region are as expected from FEKO, but the electric currents along the dielectric (although nearly the expected magnitude) are completely wrong. We cross-validated our textfile with the outputs from the CADFEKO .out and POSTFEKO .os / .ol files and they are the same.

I suspect there may be an ordering (i.e., indexing) problem, for example, the current values are stored at the wrong triangle index. Regarding the difference in magnitude for the purely conductive and dielectric sphere cases, this doesn't occur if you output the currents via the LUA DataSet: ExportMatFile() function, which unfortunately doesn't work for composite designs in FEKO 2020.0. Perhaps this is a consequence of the same bug?

The LUA code:

app = pf.GetApplication() app:NewProject() app:OpenFile([[path_here\coated_sphere.fek]]) -- Set up the file details absPath = [[path_here\]] -- HIGHLY recommended to hard code the absolute path! meshfile = "coated_sphere_sol.txt" -- Find all possible data files names = pf.SurfaceCurrentsAndCharges.GetNames() --Get characteristic mode model currents currents = pf.SurfaceCurrentsAndCharges.GetDataSet(names[1]) --Load a given model sConf = app.Models["coated_sphere"].Configurations[1] --Import the mesh mesh = sConf.Mesh count = mesh.TriangleFaces.Count --Number of Triangles --Get mesh values points = mesh.Points --I/O for mesh write upper-- Open a file to write to. file = io.open(absPath..meshfile, "w") --Create Column Headers Vertice Index -

Hello,

I am new to TCL script. I am trying to create a TCL script to isolate 2D element in assembly with a pop up having "Proceed" button to proceed further in a script.

Objective is : If user runs the script, script will isolate 2D element with a pop notification. This will pause the script and user can see the 2D elements in workspace. If user clicks the" proceed" button, script will proceed further. In case, if user clicks "Cancel button", script will terminate.

I need to add a "Cancel" button along with "Proceed" button in below script. Can anyone help me in this?

proc Isolate2D {{opt all}} {
    *displaynone
    *createmark elems 1 $opt
    *createmark elems 2 "by config" tria3 quad4 tria6 quad8
    *markintersection elems 1 elems 2
    if {[hm_marklength elems 1]} {
        *findmark elems 1 0 1 elems 0 2
# This procedure creates a popup that pauses the script execution
proc pauseScript {} {
    # Create a toplevel window
    toplevel .pause
    wm title .pause "2D Elements"

    # Create a label with instructions
    label .pause.label -text "2D Elements Exists. In HM workspace, the model is having different element types such as S3, S4, C3D4,C3D6,C3D10M and so on.

I have planned to created script to isolate element based on element type (ex. C3D10M) as a practice session. But having no idea how to proceed further. Can someone help me

Regards,

SRV
