I activated PSIM using an activation key from a student license, but when I launch PSIM, it shows "Ready" as attached in the image and I cannot operate it. Please tell me how to resolve this situation. Thank you.

I am a university student experiencing a license activation problem with PSIM 26.1.

When I open PSIM, I receive the following errors:

My Altair license was generated on August 22, 2026. The license file contains HyperViewTrans, but I could not find any PSIM-related features.

When I try to activate the license again using Altair License Utility, I receive the following message:

I have already checked the license file, but PSIM still cannot start.

I am using PSIM 26.1 with an Altair Student Edition license valid until March 25, 2027.

My computer is authorized in the Altair License Utility, and the license activation was successful. However, PSIM reports the following errors:

• Error Code 9: PSIMPowerSupplyFeature — Feature not found.
• Error Code -29: Requested CT/TF license not found for given customer ID.
• Error Code 67: Student license check failed.

I checked my generated .lic file and confirmed that it contains no PSIM-related features.

I also tried selecting the local license file directly in PSIM's License Setup, but the issue persists.

Could you please verify whether my Student Edition account has the correct PSIM 2026.1 entitlements and, if necessary, correct or reissue the license?

I would prefer to keep my existing activation and avoid reinstalling the software unless necessary.

I am using the free Altair Student Edition license for Simcenter PSIM 2026.1.

My situation:

• I am using the same physical computer as before.
• I previously activated my Student Edition license on this computer.
• I recently reinstalled Windows on the same computer.
• After reinstalling Windows, I tried to activate my license again using Altair License Utility, but the activation failed.

Error message:

This license was already activated using different HostIDs.

Before this activation error, PSIM also displayed the following licensing errors:

• Error Code 15: Unable to connect to license server at 6200@localhost.
• Error Code -29: Requested CT/TTF license not found for given customer ID.

My Student Edition license is still within its validity period. However, I can no longer deactivate the previous activation because the original Windows installation and its local license configuration are no longer available.

Could you please check my license activation record and reset the previous HostID binding, or advise me on how to reactivate my Student Edition license on this same computer?

I would like to continue using PSIM 2026.1 with my existing Student Edition license.

I am an undergraduate student at Jiangsu University, China. I have successfully completed student verification and obtained an Altair Student Edition license for Simcenter PSIM 26.1.

In July 2026, I reinstalled Windows on the same physical computer. Unfortunately, I could not deactivate my previous license activation before reinstalling the operating system.

Since then, I have been unable to reactivate my student license.

1. License activation error

When I try to activate my license through Altair License Utility, I receive the following message:

"This license was already activated using different HostIDs."

2. PSIM licensing error

When I launch PSIM 26.1, I receive:

• Error Code: -29
• Requested CT/TTF license not found for given customer ID
• Features affected: PSIMPowerSupplyFeature and PSIMPowerSupply

My current HostID is A428_B701_FDA5_004B.

I have already contacted the support email addresses I could find, but received an automatic reply stating that the mailbox was decommissioned and no support case was created.

Could an Altair representative please help me reset or release the previous license activation associated with my old HostID? I am using the same physical computer and would like to reactivate my existing student license.

I am an electrical engineering student at Kwangwoon University in South Korea. I previously used Altair PSIM 2025.1 with a free Student Edition license.

I am currently unable to use PSIM due to licensing issues.

1. Student License Renewal Issue

• My Student Edition license was issued on September 29, 2025.
• In Altair One Marketplace, the "Renew License" button is missing.
• Only the "Get License" button appears, which displays my old activation key.
• Under Managed Licenses → On Prem, the license shows "Activation Allowed: 1" and "Activation Left: 0".

2. PSIM License Errors

When launching PSIM 2025.1, I receive the following errors:

My Altair One account is verified for the Student Edition and I have already generated my license Activation Key (Student Edition License > Licensing). However, in the Marketplace, the Simcenter PSIM page only shows the tabs "Info" and "Try and Buy". There is no Software Downloads tab and no Download button.

• Closed all Altair tabs and tried again
• Tried another browser / incognito

I also sent an email to academicsupport@altair.com, but I have not received any answer yet.

I am a teaching assistant for a university course that relies on PSIM for simulation-based classes.

We are currently experiencing the same PSIM Student Edition licensing issue on multiple student PCs. This is now disrupting laboratory sessions and preventing students from completing assignments.

Problem

License activation appears to complete successfully, and the local .lic file is created.

However, on the affected PCs:

• New Page does not open
• Example files can be opened, but simulations do not run
• Help > About… shows no local license path, expiration information, or active features
• Options > License Setup is often missing entirely
• When License Setup does appear, manually connecting the license usually fails
• In a few cases, the license is recognized temporarily, but within approximately 30 minutes the connection is lost and PSIM shuts down

One recurring error message is:

“Connection to the license server is lost. The application will shut down.”

Troubleshooting already attempted

We have already tried the following on the affected PCs:

1. Running PSIM and Altair License Utility as Administrator
2. Deactivating and reactivating the license
3. Requesting and activating a newly issued Student Edition license
4. Completely uninstalling and reinstalling PSIM and related Altair software
5. Installing and testing an older version, including PSIM 2025
6. Checking the PCs for Windows/hardware-related issues
7. Confirming that license activation succeeds and that the .lic file exists locally
8. Checking the Ethernet/MAC HostID and confirming that it matches the HostID information in the license file
9. Testing the license through License Setup when that menu is available

The issue still persists.

In addition, two students are unable to proceed normally even at the Altair account login stage. Their accounts exist, but when they attempt to log in, they receive a message instructing them to contact Altair support.

They have already contacted Altair regarding this login issue, but have not yet received a response. Because they cannot even access their accounts properly, they are unable to proceed with license activation or use PSIM at all. This delay is further disrupting the course.

Expected behavior

After successful Student Edition activation, PSIM should recognize the local license and allow students to create schematics and run simulations normally.

On a working PC, Help > About… displays information such as:

• LOCAL license
• License file path
• License expiration
• Active Features

On the affected PCs, this information is completely missing.

Questions

Could the Altair/PSIM team please help us determine:

1. Why successfully activated local .lic files are not being recognized by PSIM?
2. Whether there is currently an issue with Student Edition licensing or activation?
3. Whether the affected licenses or entitlements need to be reset or checked on the server side?
4. Why some licenses are recognized temporarily and then lose connection shortly afterward?
5. Why some student accounts cannot log in despite already existing?
6. Is there a stable workaround that can be applied to multiple affected student PCs?

We would especially appreciate a solution beyond general reinstallation or reactivation instructions, because those steps have already been attempted multiple times.

This issue is currently affecting an ongoing university course, so any urgent assistance would be greatly appreciated.

sistem과 server은 (requires admin)으로 되있음. 이를 해결하기 위해 altair License Utility를 관리자 권한으로 실행 할 경우 user 부분은 똑같이 활성이 불가능 하지만 sistem은 활성화가 가능하였음.

활성화가 되고 psim을 실행하여 새파일을 열면 connection to the license server is lost 창이 열리고 psim이 강제 종료됨

이를 확인하기 위해 등 라이센스 폴더 안의 파일을 메모장으로 열어 파일에서 psim 문자를 찾으려 했으나 psim 문자열이 존재 하지 않았음
