Tetra meshing

Hello everybody,

May I know whether it is necessary to project the mid nodes of second order tetra elements on the geometry. I have read it in the book 'Practical Aspects of FEA' that it is not acceptable if do not do so.

If it is necessary then please tell me how can I project mid-nodes on the geometry.

I think it should be on geom because it will represent shape better.

When switch to 2nd, toggle the option 'mid nodes exactly...' on order change panel

But your primary nodes must be associated to geom first, otherwise use panel tool>project to project mid nodes to surfs

Thank you sir! I want know whether is it mandatory to project the mid nodes (as it is said in the book that 'It is not acceptable if mid nodes are not on the geometry'). Isn't it that the shape of the elements will get of distorted? Does it create any problem?

Its not mandatory but if you dont project mid nodes , mesh will not be captured properly on geometry.In general area having this kind of mesh is fine but near critical region, it is good to have proper mesh.
