Multiconductor transmission line (MTL)

The ground symbol on the cable schematic view indicates a local connection from the signal to the closest metallic triangle or infinite PEC ground plane. These connections represent the reference potential as the signal propagation along the cable is solved with only a distributed circuit model.

 

MoM/MTL method - only for shielded cables

The ground symbol on the cable schematic view indicates a local connection from the signal to the closest metallic triangle or infinite PEC ground plane beneath the cable connector position (metallic installation below the shielded cable harness). These connections are local to the installation and do not represent a reference potential (as in a circuit representation) in the MoM solution. A full 3D current/field solution solves the outer shield problem and installation.
