ABSTRACT

The calibration of contact parameters involved in the DEM model regarding coke accumulation process was performed. The simulation of coke accumulation was carried out by using Hertz-Mindlin (no slip) contact model. Furthermore, the Box-Behnken experiment method was used to conduct this numerical simulation. The repose angle regression model was obtained by multivariate regression analysis of the experimental results. The variance analysis of regression model shows that the regression model is significant. The complicated interaction of linear and quadratic terms exist between contact parameters. This study serves as a preliminary basis on the determination of the contact parameters.
