The Session began with a brief overview of RegEx Trapping before diving into the LIVE Questions.
Monarch Question & Answer:
1. What if you're dealing with a text file that has a header row, as opposed to your example report where things like "customer", "account number" and "amount" are in-line? - Steve mentioned the following:
- Recommended if no Headers and that the rows are aligned nicely then one may utilize Standard Trap to capture the data.
- It may be easier to see report and the team can provide some additional tips. It could be a matter of the type of "trapping" or the "template" being used & created. It may be the possibility of using an Append Template to capture the 'header' information seeking to extract.
2. What do the check boxes "Wrap" and "Match Case" do?
- These two check boxes are associated to the Report search that is on the bar. "Wrap" will wrap the search from the cursor to the bottom of the report and then back to the top of the document to continue the search. "Match Case" will match the case of the searched text (i.e. ABC vs abc vs. Abc etc. ). More info can be found in the Help Guide.
3. From the previous session, on Data Prep, show how to save an ANALYSIS {Summary} setup for future use?
- It was mentioned that when one SAVES the Workspace the Summary is there to the load plan and one can locate that via the Analyze Tab. More info can be found in the HELP GUIDE -> Working with Summaries section.
4. Is there a way to add a calculated field like "filename"?
- In DPS Mode you would use METADATA COLUMN and select Report File Name to create the Column. More info can be found in the HELP GUIDE -> Metadata Columns
